The contractor has completed an erosion barrier around the Manheulles WWI Monument in France. The Manheulles Monument is one of four Association’s monuments in France, and one of three that were built by the 4th Engineers following WWI. Here are some before and after pictures of the project to secure the area around the base of the monument.
These before pictures shows area at the rear of the monument
The Memorial Committee working with the American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC)manages the care and maintenance of these monuments. The Manheulles Monument is in memory of the soldiers of the 4th Division who made the supreme sacrifice while eliminating the St. Mihiel Salient from September 12 to September 16,1918. It is located on the north side of the rue du General Marguerite (D-903),where it intersects with the D-904, on the eastside of Manheulles, Lorraine, France. Thanks to the Carolinas Chapter who funded this project, and to the many generous donors who support the Memorial Committee.
