The cut-off date for reserving Hotel Rooms is August 23,2024 - Standard Hotel Room rate is $124 plus tax (currently 18%) and include Complimentary Parking, Courtesy Airport shuttle service, 15% discount in Hotel’s restaurant, Free Wi-Fi, and Fitness Center use. Hotel rates will be offered to attendees (3) days before and (3) days after the above dates, based on availability.
Armed Forces Reunions (AFR) will handle collecting registrations, planning, and running the tours, the registration desk, and event meals; we will handle the Friday banquet seating as in the past. They will coordinate all other activities except the ladies' run raffles and the hospitality room duties which will be handled by the Redlegs Chapter.
AFR Reunion Reservations Cut-off Date is August 19, 2024: All reunion registration forms and payments must be received by mail on or before, Monday August 19, 2024. Send the amount due payable to: ARMEDFORCES REUNIONS, INC. in the form of check or money order. After the Cut-Off date, reservations will be accepted by Mail on a space available basis. All Reunion Registrations Forms should be sent directly to Armed Forces Reunions, 322 Madison Mews, Norfolk, VA23510, ATTN: 4th Infantry Association or completed on-line via AFR’s reservations link below. There is a 4% convenience fee added to registrations paid by credit card.
Armed Forces Reunions (AFR) Tour Requirements: There is a thirty-five (35) person minimum requirement to proceed with any tour. The Group must meet a seventy (70) person minimum to secure a second motor coach. In the event of a number’s shortfall, AFR will refund those registrants beyond the capacity of one motorcoach and place these people on a wait list based on their date of registration.
Monday – September 16, 2024 – will be an arrival day with on your own activities, plus Registration, Hospitality, and time for Committee and Chapter gatherings.
Tuesday – September 17, 2024– will feature Registration, Hospitality, time for Committee and Chapter gatherings and a City Tour of San Antonio.
Tour Details: From the earliest Spanish Missionaries in 1691 to today’s traveler, San Antonio’s appeal continues to draw attention. Relax and enjoy a fully narrated tour of San Antonio’s unique blend of rich heritage, traditions and natural beauty. Points of interest include stops at the Mission Concepcion, which is the oldest unrestored stone church in America; San Fernando Cathedral, the original church of the Canary Island settlers; Enjoy a short visit to the historically registered German neighborhood of King William. From there you’ll enjoy some time at the San Antonio River Walk or River Center Mall. Enjoy lunch on your own, possibly at Casa Rio, the first Mexican Restaurant on the River Walk. Its beautiful location and colorful umbrellas have come to symbolize the serenity and romance of the San Antonio River Walk.
9:00am board bus, 3:00pm back at hotel $54/Person includes bus, guide, and admission to the Institute of Texas Culture. Lunch on your own.
Wednesday September 18, 2024 – will feature Registration, Hospitality, Committee and Chapter gatherings and a Tour of the National Museum of the Pacific War located in Fredericksburg.
Tour Details: National Museum of the Pacific War https://www.pacificwarmuseum.org Enjoy a scenic ride to Fredericksburg, the boyhood home of Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz. Tour the National Museum of the Pacific War, which is dedicated to everyone who served in the Pacific under Admiral Nimitz. Nimitz served as CinCPAC, commander in chief, United States Pacific Fleet, and was soon afterward named commander in chief, Pacific Ocean Areas, during World Wa rII. The Museum, once a hotel owned by Nimitz’s grandfather, now includes over34,000 square feet of indoor exhibit space including the George Bush Gallery, Admiral Nimitz Museum, Plaza of Presidents, Veterans’ Walk of Honor, Japanese Garden of Peace, Pacific Combat Zone, and the Nimitz Education and Research Center. A 43,000 square foot expansion was added in 2010, where you can explore the impressive display of Allied and Japanese aircraft, tanks, guns and other artifacts made famous during the Pacific War campaigns. Enjoy lunch at one of several restaurants or delis located on Fredericksburg's downtown Main Street. There is shopping nearby on Main Street for those interested.

Wednesday evening September18, 2024 – The Redlegs Chapter will host a Pizza Party in the Hospitality Room between 5 and 6 PM. The Ivy Dragoons Chapter will be having a private chapter meeting and three entrée buffet meal with a reception and cash bar (from 5:00 PM) for which you must be pre-registered for using the 2024 National Reunion Registration Form.
Thursday September 19, 2024 – will feature Registration, Hospitality, and time for Committee and Chapter gatherings and Tours of the Buckhorn & Texas Ranger Museums, The Alamo, and El Mercado.
Tour Details: Enjoy a continuous shuttle three locations. First stop, the Buckhorn Saloon and Museum. It all started in 1881 when trappers, hunters and cowboys traded deer antlers for beer or whiskey at Albert Friedrich's saloon. Enjoy the Hall of Horns, Hall of Feathers and Hall of Fins which house not only the largest, but also some of the most impressive collections of native and exotic wildlife around. Next door you’ll find the Texas Ranger Museum which contains priceless artifacts documenting the history and lore of the Texas Rangers. Second stop, The Alamo. The jewel of Texas heritage and a historic destination. From historic buildings and artifacts to dramatic living history and peaceful gardens, there is something for everyone. Third stop, El Mercado – a three block outdoor plaza lined with shops and restaurants in downtown San Antonio. El Mercado is the largest Mexican market in the United States featuring more than 30 specialty shops.
10:00am board bus,3:00pm back at hotel $62/Person includes bus, escort and admission to Buckhorn/Ranger Museum – First pick-up at the hotel is at 10am and the last pick-up at El Mercado is 2:45pm. The shuttle will leave on a pre-determined rotation making stops at all three locations before returning to the hotel.
Thursday evening September 19, 2024 – we will have our R&R Buffet Dinner and Dance; there will be a Cash Bar, three entrée Buffet Dinner and Dance with DJ music.
Friday – September 20, 2024 – we will hold our Business Meetings, Raffle drawings, and the Ladies Luncheon; The Ladies Luncheon will feature a Gourmet Salad Bar Buffet - served with fresh chicken and tuna salad, diced black forest ham, sliced hard boiled egg, romaine, field greens, arugula, baby spinach, tomato, cucumber, shredded carrots, red onion, mushrooms, garbanzo beans, applewood bacon bits, grated cheddar and feta cheese, pasta salad, cottage cheese, sunflower seeds, toasted walnuts, croutons, choice of dressings, buttermilk ranch, house-made vinaigrette, blue cheese, extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, selection of freshly baked rolls, lemon bars, freshly baked cookies, and Iced Tea, and Coffee Service. Entertainment provided by Frank Greer, a magician and mentalist with more than 30 years’ experience performing for large and small audiences in the San Antonio area.
Friday evening September 20, 2024 – we will have our Flames of Remembrance Banquet and keynote address. Meal choices include a Beef, Chicken, and a Vegetarian entrée. There will be a reception with a Cash Bar. It will also feature the 2024 Ralph E Lingert Service Award presentation; the Legacy Educational Scholarship winners will be announced and the annual Quilt Raffle drawing.
2024 Quilt Raffle- This year’s beautiful (96"x96") quilt is made by Donna Goulait of the Carolinas Chapter. We will hold the annual Quilt Raffle drawing at the Banquet on Friday night to raise funds for the “Put the Green back Into the Ivy Fund”.
The quilt colors are muted blues and reds with white-on-whiteprints as the background. The inner border will contain the name of the division, the motto, and all the wars and major campaigns. The four corners of the outside border will contain ivy leaves embroidery. The border sides will contain pieces of all the fabrics used in the quilt. The back of the quilt will contain stars made from the fabrics used.
Quilt Raffle Tickets are available by mail and in the Reunion Hospitality Room for a ($5) donation per ticket. You do not have to be present to win.
