    He was the platoon leader of combat photographers in the 173rd Airborne Infantry Brigade from the summer of
    1965 to July of 1966. Returning in 1969 he joined the 4th Infantry Division in July of 1969 and served first as a
    communications officer in the 1/10th Cavalry Squadron and later as the S-3 of the 124th Signal Battalion

    It is the story of combat soldiers in the Mang Yang Pass, life on the Landing Zones, movement of the Division
    to An Khe and the incursion into Cambodia. It has been called "MASH in Vietnam" by a review on Amazon.com.

"The Shake 'n Bake Sergeant"

    There were over 27,000 Shake 'n Bakes during the vietnam War. This is the only book that documents this
    history and tells their story through the author's experiences in the 4th Infantry Division. This book
    documents well Operation Wayne Grey (March 1969) and a major battle in which 4ID Sergeant Major Gilbert
    was killed a few days before his scheduled retirement.
